Welcome to the Little Mouse (17 to 24 months) and Owl room (2 to 2.9 years)
Our staff to student ratio in the Toddler class is 2:9.
Our toddlers follow Creative Curriculum to develop their lesson plans and activities. With this curriculum, the focus is on development. Appropriate practices and using strengths, needs, and interests of each child to guide lessons and activities. In the toddler class we focus a lot on exploring our environment in various ways. We love to take walks around our neighborhood and discuss all the things we see, hear and touch on these journeys. Also enjoy having stories read to them. At least one book each day is related to our theme of the week. The children enjoy hearing stories about animals and then they get to pretend to be the animals. The dinosaur is a favorite because the children have fun stomping and roaring around the classroom!
Another large focus of the toddlers’ daily schedule focuses on language development. We encourage the children to use their words and if they are unable to use words, we help them use basic sign-language, gestures, or pictures. As the year goes on, we do introduce the alphabet and begin basic letter and number recognition.
The children are using their imaginations and learning through play and exploration; all of which help them be better prepared for Pre-School.
